China mocks US response to coronavirus in “Once Upon a Virus” animation short

  • The animation uses a terracotta warrior wearing a face mask to represent China and a Statue of Liberty to represent the USA.
  • The animation begins with red curtains opening to reveal a stage with the two characters. The dialog continues:
“We discovered a new virus,” says the warrior.
“So what?” replies the Statue of Liberty. “It’s only a flu.”
Soon the statue becomes flushed with fever and is hooked to an intravenous drip.
“Are you listening to yourselves?” asks the warrior.
“We are always correct, even though we contradict ourselves,” the statue replies.
“That’s what I love about you Americans, your consistency,” says the warrior.
