Data from federal Election Assistance Commission suggests 28.3 million mail-in ballots went missing in last four elections

  • The agency says the ballets went missing between 2012 and 2018 and represent one in five of all ballots mailed to voters in states that conduct elections exclusively by mail.
  • Some areas did not respond to the federal agency’s survey so the number of missing believes is believed to be higher.
  • It is believed that as the number of mail-in ballots increase, so does fraud. However, there is no evidence that the missing ballots were used fraudulently.
