Hacker group leaks Lady Gaga files online. Threatens to leak Donald Trump data next.

  • 750 GB worth of files were stolen from celebrity and entertainment law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.
  • Clientele include Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Drake, U2, Madonna, Robert De Niro, Bette Midler, LeBron James, and others.
  • The hackers, a group called REvil, demanded $21 million in exchange for the stolen documents.
  • The law firm hired cyber-extortion experts to help recover the stolen files. In retaliation, the hackers released 2.4 GB of Lady Gaga files including contracts, expense sheets, confidentiality agreements, and more, then raised the demand to $42 million.
  • REvil released this statement. “The next person we’ll be publishing is Donald Trump. There’s an election going on, and we found a ton of dirty laundry on time. Mr. Trump, if you want to stay president, poke a sharp stick at the [Grubman] guys, otherwise you may forget this ambition forever. And to you voters, we can let you know that after such a publication, you certainly don’t want to see him as president … The deadline is one week.”
