The military will stop recruiting anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19. Application will be marked “permanently disqualifying”.

  • Newsweek confirmed the memo came from the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM) and was described by the Pentagon as “interim guidance”.
  • The memo reads, “During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying.”
  • The application can request a waiver but the memo provides no further guidance for exceptions.
